Sunday Training

I completed an Insanity workout DVD at 7am then hit the road for a 14.2 mile run, lots of hills. The weather was nice for the run, partly sunny, some snow showers, and NO wind. I kind of enjoyed the run, finished at an average mile of 8:52. Why do I say I kind of enjoyed this???
Well, up until last year the most I had ever run was 3 miles, actually a 5K which is just a bit more than 3 miles. Then last year, for some unknown reason, I decided to run a 1/2 Ironman (more on this at another time) and had to run more than 3 miles. The first time I ever ran more than 3 miles, was last February, with my good friend who runs marathons, and enjoys it...Milan(thanks man).
I gave him a call, asked if he was still running and told him I would like to run with him, if he didn't mind - I know how runners are, they are completely into their routines and I didn't want to interfere if I wasn't welcome. Turns out, I called at a perfect time, he was a a plateau in his training and welcomed the company.
Our first run was 6 miles with a killer hill at the end. We ran it in the Allentown Parkway, I died, well felt like dying. My feet had blisters and my legs ached, but I finished the run. Milan was shocked that I would come out and just run 6 miles, I hadn't told him prior to the run.
We ran again the following week and continued that for most of the summer. As we ran we talked about family and just life in general, it was good times, we still run on Sundays and sometimes remark at the first time I ran more than 3 miles.
