Its May!?!?!

Where has the time gone, where have the days gone...
28 days have past since the Tri for Life, and I have been on a roller coaster of training and nutrition.

I had a great week following the tri and was at my lowest weight in years, 165, it was a healthy 165 and I felt great. The second week started out even better, then I traveled. I made a trip to NC to visit my sister and her family, spending a wonderful Easter together - our first since mom has past. It was an emotional trip and I was lucky to get two workouts in 1 strength and 1 run, a 9 miler.  I was feeling ok about the workouts because I was spending excellent time with family.

Then I got home, the beginning of week 3, turns out I gained 5 pounds on my trip - eating Rita's Ice will do that to you, I also drank several beers for the first time since Early March.  Week 3 was a big disappointment, I just couldn't find a grove. To make things worse, the end of week three was the end of April and that meant another 1/2 Mary - the LV Half Marathon.

Week 4 since feeling great, started with the 1/2 Mary and me not wanting to run. Have I told you how I really do not like running. Well, I havent trained well in 3 weeks, I gained weight, I am not in any sort of grove and my running partner, MILAN, decides to not run it with me - I was counting on the old guy to slow me down, he is my pacer.

The race day was beautiful, one of the first truly beautiful days we have had here this spring.  I showed up early and prepared to run, had it in my head that I would finish in 1:50, an good paced run, not a sprint but a good run.  While waiting to start and cheering on the 5Kers, I was talking with some people - I was wearing my Conquer Caner, t shirt, the one I wear for all running events to remember mom - turns out it was a conversation starting short today. Anyway, I was talking with cseveral people, one who turned out to be a reporter for MCall. He asks if he could use me in a story - I of course say, 'sure why not' - thinking no way I'm getting in the story - I'm just not that lucky.

I run the race, feel slow so speed up to what I thought was the 1:55 pace group, turns out its the 1:35 pace group - stupid me. So I sty with them for 9 miles and then remember I wanted to go slow and not be super slow because of lack of training, I end up finishing in1:46.

At teh finish the same reporter finds me, we talk some more and well follow this link:

This helped me kick off the first week of May on the right foot towards more consistent working out.  I am not where I was in February or March but I am back on track and in a few weeks will be in full workout stride.

I also  registered for the Steelman Triathlon.
