2 weeks remain until I undertake the 'event'. That's right, this time in 14 days I will be in transition #2 after the 112 mile bike ride or I could be in the first of 3 laps on the marathon. Training has been minimal due to a new job and also an injury to my right leg. It feels like an injury I had last year, yep, the fractured femur. This has caused great concern in me. I have run once in the last 10 days. I will run again tomorrow. I took 5 days off from any workouts - no running, no swimming, no riding. It was the hardest thing I have done in a long time. I am hoping it will pay off.
I had a good week of training, even with the rain. I got 2, 4000+ yard swims in, a 5 mile run, a 50 mile ride outside and a 1.5hr spin inside. I know, I know, not nearly enough for the event, but it is something.
I am not too worried about the swim, I am ready for that. I am not overly concerned with the bike, I am ready for that. the run, I wasnt worried until the leg started hurting, now I am worried. If I had to do all 3 events on 3 consecutive days, I would crush it. Thing is I have to do them on the same day. Nutrition will be the key, I have had lots of cramping the last 3 weeks - this will not be good on race day.
I will stick to my plan, I will stick to my plan - I have to. I am still shooting for a 12 - 15 hour finish. I figure 1-1:15 swim, 6 - 7:30 bike, and then a 5 mile marathon - this should be doable.
